The dance of time introduces the environmental-naturalistic itinerary of the Oltre la Domo Project. The second photographic narration tells the peculiarities and relevance of the natural environment of the Locule area which is part of the prestigious Biosphere Reserve MAB-UNESCO of Tepilora, Rio Posada and Montalbo.
The entire municipal area has a very large extension, of about 40 square kilometers, and welcomes a remarkable alternation of habitats and varied flat and river, hilly and mountainous landscapes. Among these, the narration lingers on the age-old lentisk forest of Su Chessariu de Sa Cuilarja, on the rock of Preda Longa, su Badde Neulotha.
The centuries-old wood known by the name of Chessariu, in the territory of Loculi, represents a unicum in the Mediterranean area. The forest has been preserved intact for centuries and the mastic trees have had time to develop into a rare and unusual tree form. Particularly significant are the dimensions of some trees that reach eight meters in height and exceed by two in circumference. On 5 May 2021, the homogeneous mastic trees of Su Chessariu de Sa Cuilarja were included in the national list of monumental trees in Italy. What are commonly considered shrub plants, in this unique place, actually express themselves in a monumental way. A majestic labyrinth of trunks is hidden under the thick evergreen foliage that guards a unique treasure trove of biodiversity.
