The area surrounding Preda Longa is literally dotted with granite outcrops that rise above the Mediterranean maquis and garrigue and give us precious clues about the geological events that led to the formation of these mountains. Tafoni are the typical erosive forms of granite and can take on the most varied geometries. The humidity that alters the most sensitive minerals weakens the integrity of the rock, breaking up the solid crystalline texture through small cavities that expand over time and with the incessant action of atmospheric agents. In these harsh and uncontaminated places, the great architects are represented by the weather, by the rain, by the wind and by the sudden changes in temperature which over the millennia have been able to carve the hard rock to the point of giving it a surreal appearance. Sometimes we have the impression of observing rock faces, other times mythological animals, other times again, the simple but unbeatable artistic flair of Nature which does not need to seek inspiration except from itself.
