The Oltre la Domo project. From the Museum in the town to the Town-Museum. Design of the open-air museum of the Municipality of Loculi tells, through a photographic narration that winds through the streets of the historic center of the town, the tangible and intangible heritage that distinguishes the small baroniese nucleus, in order to promote and value it.
The title Oltre la Domo, on the one hand, is a reference to the fulcrum and driving force of the exhibition, the museum center Sa Domo de Sas Artes and de Sos Mestieris; on the other, it is an invitation to leave the house (the domo, in Sardinian) to discover the wonders of Loculi by contemplating the exhibition, visiting the sites portrayed and participating in the events and rituals represented.
The museum layout identifies three emblematic thematic itineraries: the demo-ethno-anthropological itinerary, the environmental-naturalistic itinerary, the historical-archaeological itinerary.
The exhibition is hierarchically divided into two types of installations: large horizontal single-sided displays and smaller vertical double-sided totems. The first ones are placed along the alleys of the town and, arranged near the crossroads when they indicate the beginning or the end of the route, they report a general narration of the route to which they belong. The latter are arranged in the main squares of Loculi and delve into a specific topic or site of particular relevance regarding the main route in which they are inserted.
Each installation is made of corten steel, anchored to the ground by reinforced concrete foundations and is characterized by an autonomous and sustainable lighting system, designed ad hoc, and powered by < strong>photovoltaic panels which guarantee its vision even when the sun goes down.
The description and information relating to the project and the photos can be consulted via the web-app Oltre la domo, accessible on site by framing the Qrcode associated with each installation, and remotely, via smartphone, tablet and computer.
In conclusion, the Oltre la domo project consolidates the nodes of a dense network of attractions present in the Locule area and nearby areas, opens new access doors to culture, < strong>tradition, to the history of the area and stands as the heart of the promotion and enhancement of the Identity of Loculi.
Loculi (Lòcula, in Sardinian) is a town of about 500 inhabitants, located in central-eastern Sardinia, in the historical-geographical region of the Baronia of Orosei, in the Province of Nuoro.
It is a center with a strong personality and a complex popular identity, distinguished by original agro-pastoral, artisan and religious traditions.
Among the many events related to it, in 1959 it becomes one of the protagonists of the nationally significant reportage “Africa at Home”, produced by “l’Espresso.” The 60 photos of the investigation can now be observed at Sa Domo de Sas Artes e de Sos Mestieris, the unique museum center of the town.
Loculi gains international fame in 2020 for achieving the Guinness World Record for the largest ever produced pecorino cheese.
The small village, with a traditional layout, consisting of a intricate network of courtyard houses made of stone, adorned with murals on their walls, serves as the backdrop to the extensive and diverse communal territory.
The area is distinguished by around 40 kilometers of varied and enchanting landscapes, flat, hilly, and mountainous, which, inhabited since ancient times, safeguard a considerable wealth of archaeological evidence immersed in an abundant heritage of biodiversity, habitats, and characteristic species.
Due to its traditional, cultural, and natural aspects, Loculi is one of the municipalities included in the prestigious MAB-UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Tepilora, Rio Posada, and Montalbo.
