Inside the forest live many species of wild animals, which find their living space in the maze of roots, fronds, trunks and rotting wood. The Tyrrhenian lizard (Podarcis tiliguerta) is one of these discreet and elusive hosts. The bright green of its scales seems to have been chosen from the same palette that created the foliage of the mastic trees. A fascinating and hypnotic chromatic balance that finds its common thread in the infinite shades of green. The activity of the Tyrrhenian lizard is mainly diurnal and its diet consists of small insects, arthropods and berries. It is well adapted to arid environments and can be found from a few meters above sea level up to the highest altitudes of the island’s mountains. The main threat factors are represented by habitat fragmentation and fires.
